  • At least one person was killed and seven others hurt after a tour bus leaving a Wednesday night concert for country and gospel singer Josh Turner crashed in California, authorities said. >> Read more trending news  According to KEYT and KSBY, the crash occurred near Shandon about 11:42 p.m. following Turner's show at Vina Robles Amphitheater in Paso Robles, officials said. The bus was carrying members of Turner's road crew, not Turner or any musicians, KSBY reported. Of the eight victims, one was killed and two suffered 'major' injuries, Cal Fire/San Luis Obispo tweeted. First responders described the five other patients' injuries as 'moderate.'  Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the crash, which sent the bus careening into an embankment, the news outlets reported. No further information was immediately available. Read more here or here.
  • It’s a welcome change, just two days after tying a record high of 96 degrees, cooler air has arrived.  Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says we'll be below average today and through the weekend.  “We’re even getting rid of a little bit of that humidity so it allows the temperatures at night, at least inland, to drop in the 60’s. It stays in the 70’s at the beaches because of that wind off water”, said Buresh.  Expect a few showers, not particularly widespread or persistent, closer to the coast today and tonight.  Kickoff forecast for the Jaguars and Titans will be in the 70’s and falling through the night. The weekend is looking really nice with sunshine and mild afternoons in the low to mid 80’s and comfortably cool nights in the 60’s, the coolest stretch of temperatures at night since May.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 904.630.0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1.866.845.TIPS.
  • The Florida teenager accused of killing his grandmother and burying her body in a shallow grave at his father's Neptune Beach home pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. >> Read more trending news  According to ActionNewsJax, the state and defense have agreed to a 15- to 40-year sentencing range.  In October, a judge will hear evidence from both sides before making a decision on how long Logan Mott will spend in a Florida prison.  Mott told a judge Wednesday that since his arrest, he has completed high school and is currently taking college courses in jail.  Mott was charged with second-degree murder and grand theft auto in November 2017. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors have dropped the grand theft auto charge.  Prosecutors said Mott, who was 15 at the time, stabbed and shot his grandmother, Kristina French, and buried her in a shallow grave. He was arrested in Buffalo, New York, while attempting to cross in to Canada, authorities said. Mott's father and girlfriend reportedly returned home from a vacation Nov. 22 and were not picked up at the airport by French as previously discussed. The couple took an Uber to the teen's father's Neptune Beach home and found it was ransacked and guns were taken from the gun safe, authorities said.
  • A man from Shaler Township, Pennsylvania, is behind bars days after his 4-week-old daughter was hospitalized with multiple skull fractures, bone fractures and bruising, authorities said. >> Read more trending news  Police said the infant was taken to her primary care doctor's office on Sept. 11 because she had not eaten for nearly two days.  According to investigators, the doctor noted that the infant had multiple bruises on her face and abdomen. At that point, the baby was taken to Children's Hospital in critical condition. While at the hospital, the infant was diagnosed with multiple skull fractures, 19 rib fractures, leg fractures and a left arm fracture. After a brief investigation, police arrested and charged the girl's father in connection with her injuries. Jamie Easley, 40, is being charged with one count of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children. He is currently being held in the Allegheny County jail without bond. Doctors said the baby's mother was crying and emotionally distraught the entire time they were with her at the hospital. The mother has not been charged with any crime.
